Plan for the way you will retrieve things, not only the way they fit on day one.
A narrow aisle and clear labels often save more time than choosing the smallest possible room.
Treat the unit like a small, well-organised stockroom. Place consumables by job type, use clear shelf labels and keep heavy tools at a safe lifting height. Record what leaves the unit so the team knows what needs replenishing. A five-minute reset at the end of each visit prevents the space becoming difficult to use.
Check that the centre’s access hours suit early starts and late returns, and choose a unit near a practical loading route when availability allows. Keep fuels, gas cylinders and other prohibited materials elsewhere. If suppliers may deliver, agree the arrangement with the facility first rather than assuming unattended delivery is available.
