A USEFUL RULE

Plan for the way you will retrieve things, not only the way they fit on day one.

A narrow aisle and clear labels often save more time than choosing the smallest possible room.

Use storage to remove pressure from moving week, not to create another last-minute job. Two or three weeks before the move, pack seasonal belongings, spare furniture and anything you will not need immediately. Label boxes by room and priority, and keep documents, medicine and moving-day essentials with you.

Load the unit in reverse order: long-term items first, then the boxes you may collect soonest. Leave a simple path if your completion dates do not line up. Confirm access hours and bring your lock before arrival. If your estimate changes, call the centre before move-in; switching to a more suitable size is much easier while nearby units are still available.

WHEN A LIST ISN’T ENOUGH

Send the team a photograph of the largest pieces.

We can usually narrow the choice to two sensible sizes, then explain the difference between compact packing and easier access.
