Plan for the way you will retrieve things, not only the way they fit on day one.
A narrow aisle and clear labels often save more time than choosing the smallest possible room.
Ask when you can access the unit, when staff are present and how entry is controlled. Find out whether CCTV is recorded, whether the perimeter and corridors are well lit, and who supplies the lock. Look closely at cleanliness, dryness, loading access and the distance from the vehicle to the unit.
Then ask about the practical terms: how rental periods work, what happens if you need another size, how contents protection is arranged and which items are prohibited. A good visit should leave you with clear answers rather than vague reassurance. Bring a list or photographs of what you plan to store so the team can recommend a realistic size.
